This is the first query that arises after becoming pregnant: when will I see my baby? If you are among first-time moms, your eagerness can be very high. You want to know everything about giving birth to your baby. And knowing the average week to give birth to a baby is such one.
As per a study published in the National Library of Medicine, around 80% of pregnant females deliver babies during 37 to 40 weeks of their pregnancies. As a first-time mom, you need to know more things about delivery dates.
Your due date can differ from other pregnant women. So, it is hard to say anything about the average week to give birth for first-time moms. Your average week or due date largely depends on your menstrual cycle. With the addition of 40 weeks or 280 days to the first date of your last period, you can calculate your estimated due date (EDD).
The calculation of EDD is easy. However, its accuracy relates to some facts. Your doctor or sonogram reports can’t state the right or exact delivery date and time. As per a few studies, only 5% of pregnant females deliver their babies on the EDDs. Hence, your actual delivery date can be earlier or later than the estimated due date.
Historically, a baby was considered “born at term” if it was born between 37 weeks and 41 weeks 6 days. According to a 2012 study, the pregnancy or baby birth is termed as:
Many studies have found a connection between mothers’ childbirth history and first-time moms. As a first-time mom, you should look at the history of your mother’s childbirth before getting any idea about the average week or time of giving birth to your baby for the first time. You can deliver your baby later or earlier in your pregnancy if your mother had delivered the baby earlier or later than the estimated due date.
As per a few research paper findings, around 11% of pregnant women have premature babies or preterm deliveries. Some first-time moms take longer to deliver their babies. The time could be 40 to 42 weeks of their pregnancies. If you are under 30, it is possible for you to give birth to your baby later in your pregnancy. You can deliver a baby boy sooner than a baby girl. There are risks associated with preterm or late deliveries. So, you should stay in constant touch with your doctor or midwife.
